An Interview
(Enter stage left: an amalgamation of great thinkers-- Kant, Plato, Confucius, a Pliny or two, a handful of Brontës-- who have legs where arms should be, hands where heads should be, but more mouths than God ever intended. From stage right, a mudskipper.)
LIMBTHINKER: It's a pleasure to speak to you, Aster.
ASTER: Can't really say the same.
L: You created me.
A: I know. But let's begin.
L: And so we shall. So why... this? Why a website?
A: Website creation is an artistic method that doesn't take very long to become skilled at.
L: So out of laziness?
A: Well... kinda, but not really. I lack really any skill in the visual arts, which severely limits how I can express myself artistically. Creating a website created an alternative through lines of code; it also makes a really fun way of organizing all your various ideas.
L: What inspires you?
A: I've always considered my aesthetic to be Rococo through the life of an insect. Extravagance, jewels, florals, but also this pervasive horror to it, a feeling of unease and danger. There is not a location or time where it feels right, so it's up to you to feel comfort in the discomfort.
L: Lots of words to just say you are pretentious.
A: I think the reader could tell that from just doing a self-interview.
L: What scares you?
A: Lots of things. Mainly death. But I think my main fear is being considered wholly unoriginal and normal. I want to be exceptional, to be the highest grade possible of myself. By extension I'm really afraid that all my ideas are just plagarized and not my own-- hell this idea comes from another blog!! I know that it is impossible to be 100% original, but... still. I want that legacy, to be thought of as someone who contributed something new to society. Also insects.
L: Don't you have multiple pages dedicated to insects?
A: I do. But I think there is a way of combating a fear by learning about it, you know?
L: I know everything; what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen.
A: Great.
